An effective remedy for the treatment of lice and nits!

What is Apaisyl Lice? ?
Apaisyl Lice is an effective anti-lice non-chemical insecticide shampoo with a thin metal comb. It is suitable for children from 2 years old and adults to treat but also prevent lice.

How does Apaisyl Lice work?

The Apaisyl Lice formula is made up of coconut oil derivatives which obstruct the respiratory orifices of the lice. Combined with a soft washing lotion, the formula eliminates lice in just a few minutes by asphyxia and suffocating the lice all while washing your hair. Gone are the days of keeping the product on your scalp over-night; in just 15 minutes the product has worked!

Once the hair has been rinsed and the lice have been suffocated, comb through the hair to get rid of any dead or suffocated lice.

Insecticide-free formula: safer and more effective

By genetic mutation lice become resistant to classic treatments with insecticides (malathion, lindane, pyrethrine, etc.). Several studies have shown that the effectiveness of these anti-lice has decreased and that they can also cause significant scalp irritation for the child. With Apaisyl Lice the elimination of parasites is automatic: any risk of resistance is reduced making it easy to use and more comfortable.

Effectively use your treatment

How to use APAISYL LICE?
- In case of infestation: program of attack

* Apply onto dry hair making sure the whole scalp is covered and leave to work for 15-30 minutes.
* Wet your hair and massage the product into the hair and then rinse well. It is not necessary to use a shampoo.
* Comb through the hair when it is still damp.

Repeat this every 7 and 14 days to break the life cycle of the lice: small lice have a defence shell so that they cannot be suffocated. It is therefore advisable to repeat treatment 7 and 14 days afterwards with Apaisyl Lice shampoo to kill any lice.

- During infestation at school or within the family

Use Apaisyl Lice 2-3 times per week instead of your normal shampoo to prevent contaminations and avoid re-infestations. Comb through hair to examine the scalp.

* It is a treatment for external use only.
* Not suitable for a child under 2 years of age.
* Children should be under supervision by adults.
* Avoid contact with eyes: if this occurs rinse immediately with clear water. If symptoms persist consult your doctor.
* In case of scratching and/or secondary infection, consult your doctor.

Information about head lice

Head lice: Pediculus humanus capitis
It is responsible for human pediculosis of the scalp It is a benign infection common in France and all around the world especially among groups of children. Head lice do not carry any diseases. They can however cause impetigo which can lead to cuts from scratching. It is important to treat this bacterial secondary infection before starting the anti-lice treatment. Head and body lice are morphologically very similar.

Among the three species, the female is slightly bigger than the male.

Description of head lice:
Head lice are small wingless insects with a flat dorso-lateral body. On an empty stomach they are a whitish colours but once swallowed blood they become a darker red or black colour. They measure 2-3mm in length. Without wings they cannot fly or jump but they can move around quickly (at the speed of 23cm/minute in natural conditions) between the hair that they attach to due to their 3 pairs of short legs with pincers. Their abdomen is bigger than the rest of their body and they do not have appendices.

The lice breathe via orifices called spiracles which can close and make them waterproof. These orifices also have an excretion function. They short antennas and very specialised mouths; biter-sucker type which form a retractable tube. The part that enters the skin consists of three stylets, which remain inside the head of the insect when it is not feeding. Eating exclusively from the host’s blood, which it bites 2-4 times a day for meals of about 30 minutes, it can live on the scalp for more than one month (30 to 40 days). When the insect feeds, its flattened body is full to bursting.

Far from its host, it rarely survives more than 36 hours, it dies of hunger or dehydration. It is necessary for the lice to feed regularly on blood, and the climatic and humidity conditions necessary for its survival are quite strict: temperature between 28-32° C with 70-80% humidity. The head louse is said to be “the obligatory external parasite of the human,” therefore it must absolutely be on a human to live. We do not know their predators.

These are questions we ask ourselves about lice and nits

Can lice reproduce?
An adult louse lays 4-10 eggs per day called nits. The eggs hatch 7 days after and they are called nymphs. After 10 days the nymphs turn into adults and then it is their time to reproduce.

How long can lice survive without human blood?
Lice can barely survive more than 36 hours. They die of starvation and dehydration.

Can they swim?
The respiratory orifices close when in water, so they are able to continue breathing fo several hours under water. So it is useless to try and drown them.

What is the difference between dandruff and nits?
Dandruff is white and fall spontaneously onto the head whereas nits are a whitish colour when empty but darker when they have eaten blood. They attached themselves to the scalp with a cement-type substance which is formed at egg hatching.

Can we find lice on other parts of the body such as the chest, armpits or on pubic hair?
No, lice only appear on the hair and potentially on eyebrows, the moustache or the beard! There are 2 types of lice: body lice and crabs.

Can lice jump or fly?
Lice are not fleas, being wingless they cannot jump or fly. They spread via direct contact.
