1. NAME OF DRUG


PLUREXID 1.5%, solution for local application.

2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION


Chlorhexidine Glucoronate: 1.5 g
Per 100ml of solution.

4. CLINICAL DATA


4.1. Therapeutic Indications
Cleaning and supplementary treatment for bacterial skin infections or skin likely to reinfect.
NB: the anti-septic agents are sterilisers: they temporary reduce the number of micro-organisms.
4.2. Dosage and how to use
Local use. Do not swallow.
This product can be used pure or diluted.
For dilution it must be extemporaneous preparation.
The product can be used:
- on small wounds, pure, brushed on.
- for washing, pure or diluted: 3 cap-fulls per litre of water.
- for soaking, diluted: 3 cap-fulls per 2 litres of water.
- for vulva washing, diluted: 3 cap-fulls per litre of water.
Rinse after use.
4.3. Contraindications
Over-sensitivity to chlorhexidine gluconate or one of its dilutants.
This product must not be applied onto the head, meninges, ear or down the ear canal in case of tympanic perforation.
This is not for use with disinfecting surgical equipment.

4.4. Special warnings and side effects
Although the absorption of chlorhexidine is low, the risk of systematic effects cannot be excluded. Do not use an antiseptic on a large surface, on damaged skin (in particular burnt) a mucous membrane, a skin of premature or infant, (due to the surface / effect of occlusion of the layers at the level of the seat).
Microbial contamination is possible from the opening of the antiseptic solution. If the vial’s volume is more than 250ml and is open for a prolonged period of time there is a risk of contamination.

4.5. Interactions with other drugs
Given the possible interactions, do not use different anti-septic solutions or soaps at the same time.

4.6. Pregnancy and breast feeding
Pregnant and breast feeding women should use this drug with caution due to lack of clinical data.

4.7. Effects on the ability to drive and operate machinery
Not applicable.

4.8. Side effects
Risk of an allergic reaction such as eczema from use on:
- damaged skin
- mucous membranes
- ulcers with infections from prolonged use.
Risk of a general allergic reaction such as an anaphylactic shock.

4.9. Overdose
In case of ingestion, contact the poison control centre.

Chlorhexidine solution in a active foaming cationic dilutant.
Bacterial anti-septic on Gram + and - germs.
Anti-fungal effect on Candida albicans.
This product combines an detergent and bacterial effect.

Absorption into the skin is insignificant.

6. PHARMACEUTICAL DATA



6.1. List of dilutants
Alcanamico (C12-C18) propylbetaine (Tegobétaïne F50), di(hydroxyethylalkanamide) (Oramide DL 215), trihydrated sodium acetate (30% v/v solution), purified water.

6.2. Incompatibilities
Physico-chemical incompatibility with all anionic derivatives (soaps, certain antiseptics ...).
Do not use cork stoppers, as these may decrease the antibacterial activity of chlorhexidine.

6.3. Shelf life
Before opening: 3 years.
After first opening: 3 months.

6.4. Storage precautions
Store in a place below 25°C.

Polyethylene opaque bottle in 250ml, 400ml or 500ml with a polyethylene lid.
